Background:

Thecurrentstagingsystemsdonotconsiderthetumorlocationofthymomas,anditsclinicalrelevanceispoorlyunderstood.Thisstudyaimedtoevaluatetheimpactoftumorlocationontheclinicopathologicalfeaturesandprognosisofthymomas.

Methods:

Weperformedaretrospectivereviewofpatientsatourinstitutionwhounderwentanextendedthymectomyforathymomafromto.Thetumorlocationwasclassifiedaseitherthesuperiororinferiormediastinumbasedonthemaximumtumordiameter.Theclinicopathologicalcharacteristicsofthethymomawerealsoevaluated.Kaplan-MeierestimatesandCoxproportionalhazardsmodelswereusedtoanalyzethesurvivalout
